TPO employee selected to receive a Women of Color Technology Rising Star Award

The Technology Partnerships Office is pleased to announce that Tiffany House, Commercialization Specialist under NOAA’s Small Business Innovation Research Program, has been selected by the Women of Color STEM Conference to receive the Women of Color Technology Rising Star award for 2021.

Tiffany was recognized for this award in part for her work as the SBIR Commercialization Specialist:

In my current position ...I communicate with small business owners and provide them with the resources they need to develop their innovative technologies for the commercial sector. Working with small business owners with backgrounds in science and technology has afforded me the ability to utilize my economics and business skills to achieve the main goals of the SBIR program. I have stimulated technology innovation by highlighting products or services developed by NOAA small business owners through the NOAA Innovators Series Seminars.”

Career Communications Group, Inc. (CCG), which sponsors the award, was founded in 1985 with the mission of promoting significant minority achievement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).  The Women of Color STEM conference is focused on the development of women in STEM careers and ensures that the superior achievements and importance of these outstanding women are highly visible to all conference participants.

In addition to hosting the Women of Color STEM Conference, CCG publishes Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine, US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine, and Women of Color magazine.

The Women of Color Technology Rising Star award was developed to recognize professionals with 21 years or less in the workforce who are helping to shape technology for the future.  The  awards are designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Create a network of role models who can serve as inspiration to others

  • Help senior leadership in companies identify exceptional talent

  • Promote better access to STEM careers for women and ethnic minority groups  by showing them what it takes to get hired and move upward in their organizations

  • Help organizations promote and publicize the successes of women with the same intensity as male employees

  • Help organizations cultivate engaged employees

  • Raise the profile of organizations as employers of choice among women, and racial and ethnic minority groups.

As a recipient of the award, Tiffany will be recognized at the  Women of Color STEM Conference, which will be hosted virtually on October 7-9, 2021.

TPO is proud to have Tiffany as a rising star on our team!
