In 2019, the TPO contracted a private company to research and assess the economic impact and overall effectiveness of NOAA's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program and the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) component of NOAA's Technology Transfer Program.  The attached document provides a high level summary of the results.

Mentoring Visit to GLERL Offers a Wealth of Learning Opportunities

Tiffany House, NOAA SBIR, had the opportunity to shadow her mentor through the OAR Mentoring Program and deliver a briefing on the SBIR Program to GLERL, one of seven Federal research laboratories in the OAR line office of NOAA. She had fun learning about the advanced tools and technology GLERL uses and shares with the world, listening to leaders in science talk about their research with so much passion, and she was proud to share with them the great things the NOAA SBIR does for small businesses.

SBIR Fall Innovation Conference Comes to National Harbor

Last week, the NOAA Technology Partnerships Office attended the conference in National Harbor, Maryland with the goal of connecting with small businesses in need of research grants in NOAA mission related functions with excellent commercial potential. Networking opportunities, program sessions, workshops, and meeting with SBIR agencies, were just a few of the benefits of attending the SBIR/STTR Fall Innovation Conference. In just two days the NOAA SBIR team connected with over 30 small businesses.

CA Water Forecast Improvement Driven by NOAA Innovation and Partnerships

The NOAA Physical Sciences Division (PSD) is entering its third consecutive five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the California Department of Water Resources (CA-DWR) as part of their Enhanced Flood Response and Emergency Preparedness (EFREP) program. The cornerstone of these MOUs has been the development, deployment, operation, and maintenance of a 21st-century observing system to help California deal with its water resource and flood protection issues.
