DeepSeaVision

The Technology

DeepSeaVision by Synthetik Applied Technologies is an integrated hardware and software platform for the automated real-time detection of marine mammals in offshore environments using video and acoustic data paired with artificial intelligence models.

Applications

  •  Monitoring for marine mammal encounters at offshore aquaculture facilities to prevent and respond to entanglement events during operation
  • Evaluation studies for potential aquaculture sites by characterizing presence of marine mammals, and supporting permitting activities
  • Characterizing and mitigating risks to mammal and avian species resulting from construction and operation of offshore energy facilities

Benefits

  • A cloud-connected internet-of-things platform allows for real-time monitoring and immediate alerts of detection events.
  • A robust monitoring system utilizes both visual and acoustic sensors.
  • A bespoke acoustic detection model utilizes a multi-model approach to mammal family and species identification and removal of background noise.
  • A custom web dashboard allows immediate review of captured video and audio data.
