Analyze data provided by Tomorrow.io weather satellites to assess the impact the data have on NOAA forecasts and evaluate utility for NOAA’s weather models. Tomorrow.io expects to have a full constellation of satellites in orbit by 2024.
Develop salmonid habitat and life-cycle models to better understand and plan for conservation, management, and recovery of Puget Sound populations. Partners will also use models to evaluate potential ecological effects of new dams and develop aquatic species restoration plans for native fishes in the Chehalis River basin of coastal Washington.
Analyze environmental impacts in Hawaii and beyond using satellite data, artificial intelligence, computer modeling, and ‘omics to support improved understanding, conservation, and management of marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
Improve NOAA’s HYSPLIT atmospheric computer modeling application by testing new features, and enhance visibility of the HYSPLIT model within Europe and South America.
Increase ocean and atmospheric observations by improving uncrewed surface vehicle technologies. Efforts will include the technology transfer, integration, and field trials of the ASVCO2™ sensor.
