Exploring Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for ocean research and monitoring

Aqua Satellite Inc. & NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS) will partner together to explore the application of small, low cost Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) to NOAA’s ocean research and monitoring charters to decrease the cost of collecting ocean data. Together they will conduct demonstrations, tests and missions that will enable NOAA to better manage marine protected areas.

Exploring more cost-effective and accessible ocean exploration

NOAA Ocean Exploration and Fugro cooperate to develop and use uncrewed systems for ocean exploration to enhance the efficiency, reach and impact of NOAA’s mission to explore the deep ocean. By focusing on uncrewed systems, such as uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs), autonomous undersea vehicles and electric remotely operated vehicles, the partnership will make ocean exploration more cost-effective and accessible to scientists nationwide.
